Turkey Burger with Balsamic Onions and Gouda Cheese

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes 4-6 servings

1lb | 454g Granny's Lean Ground Turkey
1 egg (or egg white, if preferred)
2 tsp | 10 ml ground cumin
2 tsp | 10 ml curry powder
2 tsp | 30 ml fresh chives, finely chopped (or onion greens)
1 garlic glove, minced
to taste sea salt & ground pepper


1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml red onion, cut into rounds
2 tsp | 10 ml olive oil
1 tsp | 5 ml balsamic vinegar
pinch brown sugar
1 brick Bothwell Smoked Gouda Cheese


Preheat grill.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté onions in oil until soft (about 5 minutes).
Add balsamic vinegar and brown sugar and cook for another minute. Set aside.
Combine all burger ingredients and form into 4-6 patties.
Grill patties for 5-10 minutes per side on an oiled grill, or until a meat thermometer reads 175ºF (70ºC).
Top cooked burgers with onions and Bothwell Smoked Gouda cheese slices. Close lid until cheese melts.
Spread a generous amount of barbecue sauce on toasted multigrain buns, place the burger on the bun and enjoy!
