Baked Penne Pasta with Ground Turkey

1 lb | 450 g Granny’s Ground Turkey
1 tbsp | 15 ml olive oil
1/4 cup | 65 ml onion, finely chopped
1 tsp | 5ml garlic, finely chopped
1 can | 796 ml diced low-sodium tomatoes
1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml dried oregano
1 tsp | 5 ml sea salt
1/4 tsp | 1.25 ml ground pepper
1 lb | 454 g dried penne pasta
1/2 cup | 125 ml Mozzarella cheese, shredded


Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
Heat oil in a large skillet and brown ground turkey well, stirring to break up pieces. Add onion and garlic for last few minutes of cooking.
Add diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.
Boil pasta until al dente. Drain carefully. Add to tomato meat sauce and stir.
Pour mixture into an 8 x 10 inch greased casserole pan and top with shredded cheese.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted. Serve warm with salad and garlic bread.
