Sweet and Sour Turkey Meatballs

Ingredients

1 lb | 500 g Granny's ground turkey
2 tbsp | 30 ml vegetable oil
1/2 cup | 125 ml onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp | 15 ml garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp | 15 ml ginger, finely chopped
1/4 cup | 60 ml bread crumbs
1 egg white
1/2 tsp | 2.5 ml sea salt
1/4 tsp | 1.25 ml black pepper
Sauce:
1/4 cup | 60 ml barbecue sauce
1/4 cup | 60 ml brown sugar
3 tbsp | 45 ml cider vinegar
1 tsp | 5 ml Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp | 5 ml soy sauce

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large frying pan sauté onions in 1 tablespoon of oil until golden brown.
Add garlic and ginger, stir and then remove from heat and let cool.
Combine turkey, sautéed ingredients, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and egg white.
Form into bite sized balls and pan fry until lightly brown in remaining oil.
Add barbecue sauce, sugar, vinegar, Worchester sauce and soy sauce.
Mix well and then transfer to a baking dish lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 30 minutes and then serve.
